Concrete mixer trucks play a vital role in the construction industry as they are responsible for mixing, transporting and pouring concrete. Due to the special nature of their work, there are some key things to keep in mind when operating a concrete mixer truck to ensure that the task is completed safely and efficiently.
Before starting the mixer, the mixing drum operating handle should be placed in the ‘stop’ position.
After starting the engine, let the mixing drum rotate at low speed for about 10 minutes, so that the temperature of the hydraulic oil rises to more than 20℃, and then start to work.
When parked in the open air, the mixing drum should be reversed before loading to remove water and debris to ensure the quality of concrete.
Ensure the skidding hopper is placed firmly to prevent loosening leading to swinging and avoid hitting pedestrians or affecting other vehicles while travelling.
During transport, the rotation speed of the mixing drum should be controlled at 2-10 rpm, and at least 2-3 rpm should be maintained on the flat road surface. On the road surface with side inclination greater than 50% or on the road surface with large swaying from side to side, the mixing rotation should be stopped and resumed after the road condition improves.
The time for delivering concrete should not exceed the time specified by the mixing station, and the mixing drum should not be stopped for a long time to prevent the concrete from segregating.
Before discharging concrete, the mixing drum should be rotated at 10-12 rpm for 1 minute before discharging.
After completing the operation, the inlet, discharge hopper and discharge chute should be rinsed immediately with a hose to keep the vehicle hygienic.
